- Submissions will be reviewed by a 3-person panel including Monica Hogan Thysell (Executive Artistic Director of Atlanta-based Monica Hogan Danceworks), plus two experienced dance professionals / curators.

- Core evaluation criteria used by our panel:

  • Outstanding artistic quality - Work samples should demonstrate clear ability to deliver high caliber, thoughtful, engaging choreography

  • Diverse representation - We aim to elevate voices that are often marginalized or underrepresented in the dance world. Will the addition of this choreographer and/or cast contribute better representation of Atlanta's diverse community?

  • Adds to program variety - Would proposed works offer a dynamic range of tone, style, and perspective alongside each other in one mixed bill show?

  • Impactful to artist's career stage - Would this opportunity remove hurdles that would otherwise make it challenging for this artist's work to be seen at this stage in their career?

Notification of selected choreographers:

- Selected choreographers will be notified in early July.

In order to grow the dance community in Atlanta it is critical for artists to have opportunities to share work on a professional stage. Spectra: Volume 1 was a perfect example of how dance organizations can support up-and-coming artists in our community. The performances were a success and the entire weekend was very meaningful for me as a freelance dance artist.
